ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
With the rapid technological explosions of the 1950s, a systematic and integrated approach to total productivity became crucial and Industrial Engineering emerged as the leading discipline to meet this need. The Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE) is a not-for profit organisation and a registered society in 1957 for propagating the profession of Industrial Engineering in India and is also a registered Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. It is dedicated to the advancement of Industrial Engineering education and practice and to the application of such scientific knowledge to assist in the management of all endeavors. The IIIE National Headquarters (NHQ) is located at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai in its own premises known as IIIE Bhavan. The building has three stories with a total area of 9,000 sq.ft. The Institution has well-organized secretariats for organising Programmes like National Conventions and International CEOs Conferences year after year, Publication of proceedings/journal, conducting Graduateship Examinations and General Administration with extensive computer network for all the sections and staff. The Institution also has Library, class rooms and a conference hall at National Head Quarters.

ABOUT THE TRIVANDRUM CHAPTER
Trivandrum Chapter is one among thirty three chapters of IIIE spread all over India in addition to overseas chapters getting established abroad. The Trivandrum Chapter is established in March 1981 and has conducted two national Conferences and one regional conference since then. The Chapter regularly conducts training programmes for the benefit of executives from industry and academia. The Chapter has established two students chapters at College of Engineering Trivandrum and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology Kottayam where Industrial Engineering courses at graduate or Post Graduate levels are offered in the state. It has instituted gold medal for B Tech degree examination in the University of Kerala and two endowment awards for MTech Industrial Engineering Examination/Programme at College of Engineering Trivandrum. The Trivandrum Chapter has won Krish Pennathur Shield for the best Chapter two times since its inception. The institution acquired new premises in 2015 at Rotary Towers (First Floor) on Kumarapuram-KIMS Road. It houses Chapter Office and can accommodate fifty participants at a time for the training programme. The major activities of the chapter include the following:

        To conduct training programmes on emerging themes for the benefit of professionals from industry and academia.
        To take up consultancy work to assist organizations and entrepreneurs in improving productivity.
        To promote Grad IE programme of the Institution for the benefit of working professionals.
        To fill-up the gap in technical education by holding seminars and lectures on emerging trends.
        To provide valuable inputs to Government/Universities and other decision making bodies in the State on various techno-managerial problems.
        To float national and international conferences to provide platform for interacting professionals to catch-up with contemporary developments in IE.
